7 SPPG Units in Mataram Still Suspended for Not Meeting IPAL Standards

Seven nutrition service units (SPPG) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have yet to resume operations following suspension by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). These seven kitchens under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme still fail to meet wastewater treatment installation (IPAL) standards.

“Seven remain closed. This concerns IPAL and SLHS. The management will continue to remind them to make improvements promptly. All SPPG are legally required to fix their IPAL so that they meet standards and environmental safety,” said the Mataram SPPG Regional Coordinator, Isnan, when interviewed on Monday (27/4/2026).

BGN previously suspended 15 SPPG in Mataram. Isnan revealed that after the suspension of these units some time ago, dozens of schools in Mataram no longer received MBG menus.

“Hopefully, all can fix this soon. Some of those suspended previously have already made improvements and are ready to operate. The ones not yet lifted are those that are not finished,” Isnan stated.

Assistant I of the Mataram Regional Secretariat (Setda), Lalu Martawang, reminded the still-suspended MBG kitchens to promptly address the IPAL issues.

“We ask the team under the city regional coordinator to conduct more intensive monitoring at the existing MBG kitchens. We want to ensure that no mistakes occur, no deviations, or any undesired conditions,” Martawang stressed.

Martawang stated that he would facilitate a meeting between BGN and the Mataram SPPG Task Force. This effort aims to thoroughly dissect the problems and mitigate various conditions.
