7 Most Optimistic Asian Countries About Their Nation's Future, Indonesia Included
A recent Ipsos survey reveals that Indonesia ranks as the second most optimistic nation in Asia regarding its future direction, with 75 per cent of respondents believing the country is on the right track. Singapore leads the region with 82 per cent optimism, whilst Japan trails at 43 per cent. The high levels of confidence across much of Asia are attributed to public expectations of economic growth, infrastructure development, and improved quality of life.
Based on the Ipsos survey conducted among 25,000 respondents aged 16-74 across 30 countries in November-December 2025, 75 per cent of Indonesian respondents assessed that their country is moving in the right direction. This percentage places Indonesia just below Singapore, which emerged as the most optimistic country with 82 per cent of respondents confident their nation is on the correct path.
Indonesia still outperformed Malaysia, India, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan. Malaysia secured third place with an optimism level of 69 per cent, followed by India at 62 per cent. Meanwhile, South Korea recorded 58 per cent, Thailand 54 per cent, and Japan was the lowest in the list at 43 per cent.
According to Ipsos, the high level of optimism in most Asian countries reflects the public’s substantial hopes for economic growth, infrastructure development, and an improved quality of life in the future.
