7-Hour Blaze in Kemayoran Residential Area Extinguished
The fire in the densely populated residential area on Kemayoran Street, Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Central Jakarta, has been extinguished after burning for seven hours. Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
“The situation/status of the fire: extinguished,” stated Jakarta Fire and Rescue Command Center on Tuesday (2 June 2026).
The cause and sequence of events leading to the fire remain unknown, and final casualty figures have yet to be confirmed. Firefighters received the initial report at 8:55 PM WIB on Monday (1 June), with firefighting operations commencing at 9:05 PM WIB and concluding at 4:15 AM WIB.
The government has established an evacuation site at Jusuf Hamka Field on Benyamin Suaeb Street for casualty registration and disaster coordination. Director General of Regional Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, stated that evacuation facilities have been set up with support from various agencies. Three tents have been provided by the Jakarta Social Affairs Office, with additional logistical support from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Current data collection covers residents affected in two RWs: RW 04 (covering five RTs: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) and RW 05 (three RTs: 01, 02, 03).
“Once all emergency measures are concluded, we will discuss the process for residents, including possible relocation to safer housing,” Safrizal added.
