Semarang (ANTARA) - Semarang Customs destroyed 7.3 million sticks of illegal cigarettes and 3,318 litres of beverages containing ethyl alcohol from seizures during the period from June to December 2025 in Semarang on Wednesday.

Head of Semarang Customs Office Mochamad Syuhadak stated that the value of the destroyed illegal goods reached Rp11.4 billion.

β€œThe potential state loss saved from this enforcement action reaches Rp7.6 billion,” he said.

He explained that the modus operandi of illegal goods distribution is becoming increasingly diverse to deceive officers, ranging from the use of modified personal vehicles to disguising through delivery services.

Meanwhile, Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng expressed appreciation to Customs and all stakeholders for their efforts in eradicating illegal goods.

She emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy business climate so as not to be disrupted by the circulation of illegal products.

Those funds, she said, are utilised to support the welfare of cigarette factory workers as well as improvements in public health services.
