7,000 BPJS PBI Participants in Mataram Yet to Be Reactivated
The Mataram City Social Service (Dinsos) has reactivated 2,058 BPJS Health Penerima Bantuan Iuran (PBI) memberships from the 9,856 that were temporarily deactivated by the Ministry of Social Affairs some time ago. These 2,058 memberships are now confirmed to receive government social assistance this year. Meanwhile, the fate of the remaining 7,000 participants remains uncertain.
“Only 2,058 have been reactivated by us; the rest are still ongoing. PKH companions are targeting the remaining around 7,000,” said Head of Dinsos Mataram, Muzakkir Walad, on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Muzakkir mentioned several factors causing more than 7,000 memberships to remain unreactivated. One factor is participants identified as deceased, not residing in Mataram City, and those identified as misusing social assistance (bansos) for online gambling (judol).
“From the requirements, they indeed do not meet the criteria, such as being no longer poor, deceased, and some whose population identity is still in Mataram but de facto no longer in Mataram. Additionally, there are cases due to misuse of bansos,” explained Muzakkir.
“Misuse of bansos ranges from judol to pinjol. But regarding judol, we still conduct field confirmations or ground checks. We must not let the identification harm our community, as there might be cases where the system indicates misuse by family members, such as grandchildren or children,” he added.
Previously reported, 9,856 BPJS Health PBI memberships of Mataram residents were deactivated by the Ministry of Social Affairs because they were indicated as no longer poor and no longer in welfare levels (desil) 1-5.
“According to Ministry of Social Affairs regulations, only those in desil 1-5 receive assistance, whereas desil 6-10 do not,” said Staff for Handling the Poor, Protection, and Social Security at Dinsos Mataram, Muhamad Zubaidi, previously.
Zubaidi explained that from the application data, around 9,856 Mataram residents’ memberships were deactivated and no longer receive social or health assistance. However, this inactive status is not permanent. Residents who feel eligible for premium assistance but have inactive memberships are urged to report immediately.
“We continue to carry out reactivations, in accordance with Ministry of Social Affairs Decree 03/HUK/2026 dated 22 January 2026. We have successfully reactivated 2,051 as of 11 February. With a total of 159,683 active PBI souls, while 9,856 BPJS Health PBI were deactivated,” he clarified.
