As many as 680 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bali have been vaccinated against polio and meningitis. In addition, all prospective pilgrims are required to have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Head of the Hajj and Umrah Development Division at the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Mashruhan, stated that the vaccination requirements for these prospective pilgrims are based on Law No. 14 of 2025. Vaccinations are being carried out in every regency and city.

“Regarding the protection of pilgrims, they are vaccinated. Health protection is one of them through vaccination,” said Mashruhan when met at the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

“It turns out that from the Ministry of Health, the COVID vaccine is also mandatory for pilgrims,” he added.

Mashruhan explained that polio and meningitis vaccinations have already begun in every regency and city since 9 April. The administration of vaccines for prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bali is targeted to be completed by 15 April.

According to Mashruhan, not all prospective Hajj pilgrims in Bali have received the COVID-19 vaccine. This is because the vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection was already administered during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

“Those who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine number 72 people across Bali,” he added.

It is known that hundreds of prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bali are scheduled to depart for the Holy Land via the Surabaya embarkation point in May 2026. They are scheduled to be farewelled by Bali Governor Wayan Koster on 25 April.
