68,000 Sacrificial Animals Expected in Jakarta as Provincial Government Deploys Inspection Teams

Jakarta Provincial Government estimates 68,000 sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriyah in 2026, deploying health inspection teams across the capital. The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Rano Karno following the Eid prayer at the Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (27 May 2026). He stated that the provincial government has prepared animal inspection and halal slaughter teams to ensure compliance with health standards.

‘This year, based on our visit to Dharma Jaya yesterday, the total number of sacrificial animals in Jakarta is nearly 68,000. You can imagine,’ Karno said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

Karno acknowledged that not all animals can be guaranteed perfect due to the scale, but emphasised strict instructions to reject any substandard livestock. ‘It’s impossible for all 68,000 to be flawless, but we’ve deployed slaughter and inspection teams. I’ve made it clear: no tolerance for animals that fail inspection—they must be set aside,’ he said.

According to Karno, the teams have undergone specialised training and are equipped with knowledge of halal slaughter procedures and animal health checks. ‘They’ve been trained and sworn in as halal slaughterers and animal inspectors,’ he added.

Karno expressed confidence in smooth execution, noting Jakarta residents are familiar with the ritual due to its annual observance during Eid al-Adha. ‘Eid al-Adha is an annual tradition for Muslims, and they already know the proper procedures,’ he concluded.
