The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence says 67 of its military personnel have been injured since the start of Iran’s retaliatory strikes following attacks by the United States. This marks the highest number so far among Gulf militaries.

‘Sixty-seven Kuwaiti military personnel have been injured since the start of the strikes,’ Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, a spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence, told AFP on Friday (6 March 2026). He did not specify where the soldiers were wounded.

Kuwait has identified and ‘dealt with’ 212 ballistic missiles and 394 drones since Saturday (28 February), the spokesman added.

Kuwait also has the highest death toll in the region so far, with eight of the 13 fatalities in the Gulf region dying in the small country. This includes four US military personnel and two Kuwaiti service members, as well as two civilians.

Washington has said a total of six of its personnel have been killed in the war.

It is known that the United States has had a significant military presence in Kuwait since Washington came to help the Gulf states after Iraq invaded in 1990.

Kuwait hosts several US bases, including Camp Arifjan, which is the forward headquarters for United States Army units from Central Command’s (CENTCOM) area of responsibility. The US Army also has stockpiles of equipment and gear in the country.

There is also Ali al-Salem Air Base, home to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, described by the military as ‘the main air transport hub and the gateway for projecting combat power to joint and coalition forces’ in the region. In addition, the United States has drones including MQ-9 Reaper based in Kuwait.
