656 Personnel Secure Tipitaka Chanting at Borobudur Temple Complex
A total of 656 joint personnel have been placed on standby to secure the series of activities for the Tipitaka Chanting and Asalha Mahapuja 2570 BE/2026 taking place in the Borobudur Temple complex and its surroundings. Plh. Deputy Chief of Magelang Police, Kompol Eko Mardiyanto, stated on Sunday that the security detail comprises personnel from Magelang Police, the Central Java Police Mobile Brigade’s Gegana bomb disposal unit, Military District Command 0705/Magelang, the Magelang Regency Transportation Agency, Magelang Regency Public Order Agency, the Magelang Regency Fire Department, Borobudur Temple Security, and Mendut Temple Security. He explained that all personnel are stationed at a number of strategic points to ensure the entire series of worship and community activities proceeds safely, orderly, and smoothly. According to him, personnel are tasked with managing traffic flow, securing activity locations, monitoring entry and exit routes to the area, and providing services to participants, Buddhists, tourists, and the public active around Borobudur Temple. He said the security operation is being carried out to the maximum as a form of commitment by the Indonesian National Police and all relevant agencies to provide a sense of safety and comfort during this national-scale religious event. He expressed hope that through the preparedness of the 656 joint personnel, the entire series of activities can run successfully without hindrance, while reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining security, order, and tolerance in Magelang Regency.
