65 Firefighters Battle Blaze at Fruit Shop in Tanjung Priok

A total of 65 firefighters were deployed to extinguish a fire at a fruit shop located on Jalan Bisma Raya, Tanjung Priok Urban Village, North Jakarta, on Monday afternoon.

“We deployed 65 personnel and 13 fire engines to the scene,” said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Service, in Jakarta on Monday.

He said the fire was still being handled by officers at the time.

“The current firefighting situation is still in the cooling-down phase,” he said.

According to him, the object that caught fire was a building measuring 175 square metres, which destroyed the property belonging to Mr Jianbaolei.

Officers received information about the fire at 5.39 p.m. Western Indonesia Time after receiving a report from the public.

Upon learning of the incident, a number of personnel immediately went to the scene.

“Officers began firefighting operations at 5.43 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, and the fire was successfully brought under control with cooling-down operations carried out at 6.14 p.m.,” he said.

According to him, officers were still on the ground collecting data, including the chronology and suspected cause of the fire.

“Losses resulting from the fire are still being calculated,” he said.
