64 Villages in West Manggarai to Hold Simultaneous Village Head Elections on 29 September
As many as 64 villages in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), are scheduled to hold simultaneous Village Head Elections (Pilkades) on 29 September 2026. Dozens of villages conducting Pilkades are spread across all sub-districts.
“The plan is for this election to be held on 29 September 2026 for 64 villages spread across 12 sub-districts. So, all sub-districts will conduct village head elections,” said Deputy Regent of West Manggarai, Yulianus Weng, during a meeting to form the Regency-Level Pilkades Supervisory Committee in West Manggarai on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Weng emphasised the importance of forming the supervisory committee as an early anticipation of dynamics during the Pilkades series. According to him, the implementation of Pilkades is no less lively than regional head elections (Pilkada).
“From experiences in previous years, village head elections are also lively. Almost as lively as Pilkada, elbow to elbow,” Weng revealed.
“Therefore, the local government has anticipated this far in advance, one of which is by forming the supervisory committee. We hope that with this committee, the Pilkades process on 29 September will proceed as we all expect,” he added.
The distribution of villages that will hold the 2026 Pilkades includes: Boleng Sub-district with 3 villages, Komodo Sub-district (7), West Kuwus Sub-district (3), Kuwus Sub-district (3), South Lembor Sub-district (7), Lembor Sub-district (5).
Furthermore, Macang Pacar Sub-district (5), Mbeliling Sub-district (6), Ndoso Sub-district (7), Pacar Sub-district (8), Sano Nggoang Sub-district (5), and Welak Sub-district (5).
