63 Civil Servants Face Dismissal for Absenteeism Through August 2026

The State Civil Service Advisory Board (BPASN) has received 239 cases of compliance violations involving civil servants (PNS) and government employees with work agreements (PPPK) up to August 2026. Of these, 63 cases involved civil servants absent from work.

Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, who also chairs BPASN, stated that civil servants absent for ten consecutive working days may be dismissed. “In accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 94 of 2021 on Civil Servant Discipline, if an individual is continuously absent from work for ten working days without a valid reason, they may be subject to an honourable discharge not at their own request,” Rini emphasised through a press release on Friday.

During a BPASN session held on Thursday, 35 civil servant disciplinary violators received firm sanctions. The cases discussed were dominated by absenteeism, with 11 cases. This was followed by nine cases of integrity violations, three cases concerning marriage and divorce permits, three cases of moral misconduct, one narcotics case, and eight corruption cases.

“Of the 35 cases discussed in this session, 31 cases will have their sanctions reinforced and four cases will have their sanctions reduced. Even with a reduction, sanctions are still imposed on the violating civil servants,” Rini stated. The cases were deliberated with careful consideration before deciding on sanctions, which are tailored to the severity of the violation, ranging from light and moderate sanctions to severe sanctions in the form of dismissal as a civil servant.

Rini also urged Personnel Development Officers to conduct supervision and guidance for civil servants who fail to meet attendance requirements. The BPASN session serves as an administrative appeal mechanism for civil servants dissatisfied with decisions issued by Personnel Development Officers.
