The Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded that 620 people have been affected by a fire in Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta. Hundreds of residents are currently sheltering in emergency tents established by the Jakarta Provincial Government at Yusuf Hamka Field.

Marulitua Sijabat, Chairperson of the Jakarta BPBD, stated that preliminary data shows 304 buildings were impacted by the blaze, affecting a total of 354 heads of households. “Based on the data we have gathered as of this afternoon, approximately 620 individuals are affected. There are about 304 buildings and 354 families impacted by the fire,” Marulitua said at the evacuation site on Tuesday.

To meet the needs of the survivors, the BPBD, alongside relevant agencies, has erected 10 evacuation tents at Yusuf Hamka Field. This number will be increased by an additional four tents to anticipate the temporary housing requirements of the affected residents.

In addition to providing shelter, the Jakarta Provincial Government is distributing food aid, including ready-to-eat meals prepared by the Social Services Department, mineral water, and biscuits. The BPBD has distributed at least 200 boxes of mineral water and will continue to increase supplies as needed on the ground.

Non-food assistance has also been provided to the victims, ranging from family kits and household supplies to blankets, mattresses, and pillows. Furthermore, the Jakarta BPBD is coordinating with the Environmental Agency to provide mobile toilets, and is collaborating with PLN (the state electricity company) and the Public Works Department to ensure lighting is available in the evacuation area during the night.
