600 Ukrainian Drones Strike Moscow
Russian officials reported more than 620 drone attacks targeting Moscow overnight. The incident appears to be one of Ukraine’s largest strikes on the Russian capital in recent years.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian defence systems shot down 180 drones over the capital region between Monday night and 5.00 a.m. on Tuesday. He added that 17 more drones were shot down while heading towards the capital after that time.
Russian state news agency TASS described the barrage as the largest drone attack on Moscow in two years.
The drone strikes injured three people, including a 10-year-old girl, said Moscow region Governor Andrey Vorobyov via Telegram. He said the “most serious impact” was reported in the Pavlovsky Posad district, where a house was completely destroyed by fire. Several other homes and a guesthouse sustained damage in the Bogorodsky district, he added.
A warehouse belonging to e-commerce giant Wildberries located east of Moscow was damaged by a drone strike on Tuesday. In a statement, the company said its logistics complex suffered “minor damage” after “debris struck the building’s wall”.
Ukraine has targeted several Wildberries warehouses in recent weeks, claiming the company supplies components for Russian drones.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force reported shooting down or disabling 111 of 147 “enemy” drone attacks overnight.
Kharkiv region Governor Oleh Syniehubov said five people—including a nine-year-old boy—were injured in overnight Russian strikes on the city of Izyum.
Russian drones also sparked fires and damaged buildings in the city of Brovary in the Kyiv region—including an office building and several warehouses—said Mayor Ihor Sapozhko.
Amid a nearly stalled frontline and deadlocked peace talks, Ukraine and Russia have significantly escalated long-range strikes, pushing civilian casualties to their highest level since the early months of the war in 2022.
According to United Nations data, 437 civilians were killed in Ukraine in July alone; the figure represents the highest monthly toll since May 2022.
Russian authorities reported that 79 civilians were killed by Ukrainian strikes in July, an increase compared with the previous month.
