60,000 SNBP Dropouts Claim Denied by Higher Education Ministry

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has firmly denied reports that 60,000 prospective students who passed the Achievement-Based National Selection (SNBP) did not proceed with the re-registration process. Director General of Higher Education at Kemdiktisaintek, Khairul Munadi, stated that the data was incorrect and directed inquiries to the Chair of the National Selection for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) team, Eduart Wolok. Speaking separately, Eduart Wolok explained that the 60,000 figure was an accumulation from all admission pathways, including SNBP, the Test-Based National Selection (SNBT), and independent routes from the previous year’s intake. He clarified that the re-registration rate for SNBP itself was quite high, reaching 92 per cent, indicating that the majority of successful students continued their academic commitments at their chosen public universities. Meanwhile, IPB University’s Director of Cooperation, Communication and Marketing, Alfian Helmi, revealed that only 0.97 per cent of SNBP-admitted candidates failed to re-register. Based on IPB University’s registration data, 3,566 out of 3,601 candidates declared successful through the 2026 SNBP pathway completed their re-registration, resulting in a 99.03 per cent registration rate. The high re-registration rate is also supported by tuition fee policies oriented towards principles of fairness and affordability.
