6 out of 100 Jakarta Residents Still Unemployed
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta has stated that 6 out of 100 Jakarta residents are still unemployed as of February 2026.
BPS DKI data shows that the open unemployment rate (TPT) is at 6.03 per cent.
“This means that out of every 100 members of the workforce, around six people are not yet working,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
In terms of numbers, unemployment in Jakarta reached 333,860 people based on the results of the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) for February 2026.
This figure has dipped slightly compared to the same period last year, by 0.15 percentage points or around 4,540 people.
This decline occurred amid an increase in the number of the workforce.
From that total, 5.20 million people are employed, an increase of 62,180 people.
When viewed by gender, the male unemployment rate remains higher than that of females. The male TPT is recorded at 6.54 per cent, while for females it is 5.28 per cent.
“In February 2026, the male TPT is 6.54 per cent, higher than the female TPT of 5.28 per cent,” said Kadarmanto.
This condition indicates that more men are actively working or seeking jobs.
From the education perspective, the group of secondary education graduates still contributes the highest to unemployment. The TPT for SMK graduates is recorded at 8.15 per cent, followed by SMA at 7.58 per cent.
“The TPT for SMK graduates is 8.15 per cent and SMA 7.58 per cent, the highest compared to other levels,” said Kadarmanto.
