6,678 Combined Personnel Deployed to Secure May Day Action at DPR
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 6,678 combined personnel have been deployed to secure the International Labour Day (May Day) action at the DPR/MPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.
The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, explained that the combined personnel will oversee the demonstration where opinions are voiced by a mass estimated at 5,000 people.
“This is a combined force consisting of 4,633 police personnel, 1,050 TNI personnel, 95 DKI Provincial Government personnel, 400 security personnel, and 500 community security and order units,” said Budi when met at the parliamentary complex.
He explained that the demonstrating masses come from various regions, namely DKI Jakarta, Banten to West Java. The masses are urged to express their opinions and aspirations in an orderly manner and to maintain security.
“We also urge fellow workers and all components carrying out the expression of opinions not to damage public facilities,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the public intending to pass through the area around the DPR/MPR building is asked to monitor information periodically as an increase in vehicle volume and mobilisation of people is expected.
The public without urgent needs is also urged to avoid roads around the parliamentary building.
“We all want to ensure that the aspirations of fellow workers can be conveyed well, the expected goals can be achieved with the desired hopes,” he said.
