6,678 Combined Personnel Deployed to Secure Labour Demonstration at DPR
The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, explained that the personnel consist of police, TNI, and local government. The breakdown includes 4,633 police officers, 1,050 TNI personnel, 95 from the DKI Provincial Government, 400 internal security officers, and 500 members of the Community Security Belt. “The number of personnel involved in the security around the DPR-MPR is 6,678,” Budi said at the DPR RI building in Jakarta on Friday (1/4/2026). “The estimated number of people who will express their aspirations publicly is around 5,000,” he added. Budi stated that expressing opinions is a right protected by law. The police invite the expression of aspirations to be orderly. “So we convey to our brothers and sisters, happy International Labour Day 2026. Your aspirations are protected by law, so we invite and urge that the expression of those opinions can be conveyed in an orderly, safe, and smooth manner,” he said. The public is asked to avoid the area around the DPR/MPR RI building to anticipate an increase in vehicle volume. The police also urge the public to avoid the area around the DPR/MPR if they do not have urgent business, considering the potential increase in vehicle volume and crowds. “Therefore, for the public who do not have urgent needs, we urge them to avoid the road sections because there will certainly be an increase in the volume of vehicles and people,” he said.
