A total of 6,350 joint security personnel have been deployed to secure the series of events for the XXXI Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), which will take place across several locations in Semarang, Central Java.

“The joint personnel include the TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, and the Department of Transportation from the Central Java Provincial Government and Semarang City Government,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Semarang City Police, Commissioner Riki Fahrmi Mubarok, in Semarang on Friday.

He explained that several locations will be used for the National MTQ series, including the Central Java Governor’s office, Semarang City Hall, Semarang State University campus, the Great Mosque of Central Java, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, the UIN Walisongo campus, the Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang campus, as well as the offices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for both Semarang City and Central Java.

He stated that traffic around the event locations will be re-engineered to anticipate vehicle congestion, while simultaneously providing space for the public and participants to attend the opening ceremonies safely and comfortably.

Traffic flows heading towards the Simpanglima area in Semarang will be diverted during the MTQ opening series, he added.

Furthermore, several parking areas have been prepared so that the zones leading to the Simpanglima area can remain clear, ensuring no disruption to participants or the public attending the MTQ festivities.

He also urged road users passing through the Simpanglima area to follow the directions provided by officers.

“The traffic engineering does not mean all roads will be closed at all times. Officers will monitor the developing situation. If the traffic flow remains smooth, we will continue to manage it through regulation,” he added.
