6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi

An earthquake with a magnitude of more than 6.2 shook Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday (15/8) evening. According to the official X account of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake occurred at 23:25 WIB. The earthquake’s coordinates were 0.25 North Latitude and 120.22 East Longitude, precisely 82 kilometres southwest of Parigi Moutong. The earthquake was at a depth of 44 kilometres. There was no tsunami potential from this earthquake. From Saturday (15/8) morning to evening, several regions in Indonesia were shaken by earthquakes of varying magnitudes. An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred today in the East Nusa Tenggara region at 04:58 WIB. Meanwhile, at 17:54 WIB, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred in Simalungun, North Sumatra.
