6.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Parigi Moutong

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, at 11.25 pm local time. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 0.25 degrees north latitude and 120.22 degrees east longitude, or 74 kilometres southwest of Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The quake had a depth of 44 kilometres. In its statement, BMKG said the earthquake did not have tsunami potential. Meanwhile, Rangga, a resident of Palu, said he also felt the tremors from the earthquake centred in Parigi Moutong Regency. “Yes, the shaking was quite noticeable in Palu,” he said.
