6,000 Tourists Flock to the Thousand Islands, Police Increase Security at Docks

The Thousand Islands Police, along with all its sub-precincts, are increasing security at various docks on tourist and residential islands to anticipate a surge in tourists during the extended Ascension of Jesus Christ holiday in 2026.

Thousand Islands Police Chief AKBP Argadija Putra said that the increased security measures are being taken as a precautionary step, given the high interest of tourists in visiting the area.

“Security at the docks is being strengthened as a precautionary measure against potential surges in tourists during the extended holiday,” he said in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Argadija, the increased security is being implemented at several docks that serve as departure and arrival points for boats.

This measure is to ensure that tourist activities, public transportation, and boat operations run safely, orderly, and smoothly.

‘Strong Point’ activities will also continue to be carried out as a preventive measure to maintain a conducive security and social order situation, especially during the increased activity of the public and tourists,” Argadija added.

To ensure that passenger flow remains controlled, personnel are stationed at strategic points at the departure and arrival docks.

Their duties include monitoring, regulating passenger flow, and providing guidance on safety and public order.

The increased security measures are also being taken to anticipate potential overcrowding, which is expected to increase during the extended holiday.

In addition to maintaining security, officers are also helping with the boarding and disembarking process to ensure that it runs more smoothly and safely.

Previously, the Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department (Sudin Parekraf) of the Thousand Islands Regency reported that thousands of tourists had visited the tourist areas in the Thousand Islands during the extended holiday.
