West Java Department of Industry and Trade Head Nining Yuliastiani stated that the subsidised market locations are spread across Sukabumi Regency, Karawang Regency, Bandung Regency, Bogor City, Cirebon City, and Tasikmalaya City.

“Approximately 6,000 visitors flooded the subsidised market locations across various regions to purchase essential goods at below-market prices,” Nining said in a written statement on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

From early morning, residents queued at various stalls offering a range of food commodities. The majority of visitors were housewives taking advantage of the opportunity to meet their festive needs at lower prices.

The available commodities include 12 tonnes of SPHP rice, 2.75 tonnes of medium rice, and 5.93 tonnes of premium rice. Additionally, 10,320 litres of Minyakita cooking oil, 2,430 litres of premium cooking oil, 2,638 kilograms of granulated sugar, 1,070 kilograms of wheat flour, 345 kilograms of various chillies, 1,352.5 kilograms of shallots, and 202.5 kilograms of garlic.

Animal protein commodities were also provided, including 1,140 kilograms of chicken eggs, 650 kilograms of broiler chicken meat, and 350 kilograms of beef. Fresh vegetables (1,610 kilograms), fruits (190 kilograms), fisheries products, and various processed foods from 38 government-supported micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were also available.

All commodities were sold below market prices. This was made possible through collaboration between producers, distributors, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), retail businesses, and distribution subsidies. Consumers could purchase directly from producers and distributors, resulting in more affordable prices.

“We hope the 2026 subsidised market initiative will serve as a concrete step in maintaining staple food price stability, enhancing food affordability for the public, and supporting regional inflation control ahead of Eid al-Adha,” Nining said.

The Eid al-Adha 2026 subsidised market was conducted in collaboration with the West Java Food Security and Livestock Department’s (DKPP) Affordable Food Movement. The initiative also received support from Bank Indonesia, Bulog, ID Food, regional agencies within the West Java Provincial Government, local district and city governments, and the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (APRINDO).
