57,000 to enter junior high schools
BEKASI (JP): The number of new entrants at junior high schools
in Bekasi this year is projected to reach 57,000 students, an
official said.
Tisna Iyadilaga, head of the Bekasi education and culture
office, said over the weekend that about 34,000 of the number
will be accommodated by state schools and the remaining 23,000 by
private schools.
Tisna explained that there are 149 state junior high schools
and 107 private junior high schools in operation in Bekasi.
He urged the owners of the private schools to improve services
to enable them to help the government implement its nine-year
compulsory education program. (12/hhr)
