57 East Aceh flood victims receive compensation
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The East Aceh Regency Government, together with the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has distributed compensation to 57 heirs of hydrometeorological disaster victims in the region.
East Aceh Regent Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky said in East Aceh on Wednesday that the distribution was the third phase for victims who died and those who were injured.
“This compensation is a form of the government’s presence among communities affected by the floods of late November 2025,” said Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky.
The total compensation disbursed reached Rp665 million. Of the 57 recipients, 38 were heirs of those who died, receiving a total of Rp570 million, or Rp15 million each.
“This compensation is the third phase. Previously, the first phase was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian as Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of the Sumatra Region, along with the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia,” said the Regent.
As of this third phase, the number of heirs of deceased victims who have received compensation has reached 98, with 21 injured victims. The total compensation disbursed so far has reached Rp1.575 billion.
Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky said East Aceh Regency is the disaster area with the largest number of recipients compared to other regencies and cities affected by flooding on the island of Sumatra.
“All of this assistance comes from the direct instruction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, through the relevant ministries within the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force,” he said.
In addition to compensation, the government has also distributed various other forms of assistance, including home furnishing aid, socio-economic stimulus assistance, livelihood security assistance, and household furniture assistance for flood-affected communities.
“We hope the assistance received can be used as well as possible to meet families’ needs. This aid is a form of the government’s care for communities affected by the disaster,” said Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky.
Meanwhile, Hijrah Manfaluty, Head of the Social Recovery Working Group at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said the government remains committed to providing social protection to communities affected by the floods in East Aceh Regency.
“To date, the total compensation for deceased and injured victims disbursed in East Aceh Regency has reached Rp1.575 billion,” he said.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs has also distributed home furnishing assistance to 7,618 families worth Rp22.8 billion, livelihood security assistance to 28,689 individuals worth Rp38.77 billion, and socio-economic stimulus assistance for 7,618 heads of households amounting to Rp38.09 billion.
“All aid recipients were determined through a tiered data collection process until confirmed by the East Aceh Regency Government, before being verified nationally by the Central Statistics Agency and the Directorate General of Civil Registration,” said Hijrah Manfaluty.
