Iran’s Embassy to Indonesia stated that attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran have killed 555 people, of whom approximately 200 are children.

“In this attack, to date more than 555 members of the civilian population have become victims, with the majority of them being children and women, approximately 200 primary school-age children have died,” said Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi at the Iranian Embassy Official Residence in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Boroujerdi stated that many of the victims were civilians. Those killed were observing Ramadan fasting at the time.

“Various groups of non-military, civilian population who were celebrating and observing Ramadan fasting, whilst fasting, have become victims,” he said.

Boroujerdi stated that this demonstrated that the US and Israel do not respect the results of negotiations. He also stated that the US and Israel do not prioritise diplomacy.

“This proves once again that they do not respect diplomacy, they do not respect negotiations once more, it is evident that again whilst we were at the negotiating table, they engaged in devastation,” he said.

Previously, the US and Israel initiated large-scale military operations on Saturday, 28 February. They targeted command and control facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), ballistic missile and drone launch sites, military airfields, and Iran’s air defence systems.

The US and Israeli attacks killed several senior Iranian officials. One of them was Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
