54,000 People Leave Bali via Gilimanuk on H-7 Eid Holiday
Eid holiday exodus traffic on the Bali-Java crossing route is showing significant increases. According to data from the Gilimanuk Command Post on H-7 (14 March 2026), a total of 54,652 people had crossed from Bali to Java.
This figure represents an 8.1% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 50,545 people. The most striking surge was observed in the motorcycle sector.
“Motorcycle crossings through Gilimanuk Port on H-7 reached 10,733 units. This figure surged sharply by 37.5% compared to last year which only saw 7,808 units,” said Business Manager of PT ASDP Gilimanuk, Didi Juliansyah, when contacted on Sunday (15 March 2026).
Meanwhile, private cars were recorded at 4,610 units, a marginal increase of 0.7%. For logistics vehicles or trucks, 1,986 units were registered (up 2.3%). In contrast to these upward trends, the number of buses declined by 22.9%, with a total of 503 units compared to 652 units last year.
“In aggregate, total vehicles leaving Bali on H-7 reached 17,832 units, up 19.1% from the previous year,” said Didi.
Conversely, vehicle traffic from Java to Bali through Ketapang Port was also observed to increase. On H-7, 258 ferry trips were recorded serving crossings to Bali with a total of 34,276 passengers and 5,743 vehicles.
“Overall, from H-10 to H-7, 100,581 people have entered Bali, an increase of 3.9% compared to last year,” he explained.
To manage congestion in the port area and along the Denpasar-Gilimanuk route, ASDP has deployed a total of 35 vessels. This comprises 25 vessels serving regular schedules, with support from 10 vessels operating on a turn-around basis (tiba bongkar berangkat).
“There are 35 vessels operating and 10 vessels on a turn-around basis. Trucks continue to be managed according to priority scales in accordance with the agreement, and there are actually no obstacles because separate lanes already exist for each type. This is purely due to the extremely heavy concurrent arrival of vehicles,” said Didi.
The authority also continued to urge travellers to remain vigilant and arrange their departure times to avoid the peak congestion predicted to continue for several more days before the Nyepi festival. “We urge travellers to always follow warnings and instructions from officers,” he added.
