53rd KNPI Anniversary: Three Figures Receive Awards for Dedication to Youth and Development
The Central Executive Board of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) has presented awards to three figures recognised for their dedication to the development and empowerment of Indonesian youth. The awards were presented during the commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of KNPI and the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence at the Grand Sahid Hotel, Jakarta.
The three award recipients are DPD RI member Fahira Idris, Minister of Environment Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, and Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
Fahira Idris received the Youth Advocacy & Social Empowerment Award. Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat was presented with the Youth Empowerment & Environmental Leadership Award, while Sakti Wahyu Trenggono received the Sustainable Maritime Leadership & Youth Empowerment Award, which was accepted on his behalf by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Andy Artha Donny Oktopura.
The General Chairman of the KNPI Central Executive Board, Haris Pertama, stated that the awards serve as the organisation’s appreciation for figures deemed consistent in providing contributions to society, national development, and the future of the younger generation.
“This award is not merely ceremonial. It is a form of appreciation from KNPI to figures who have made real contributions to youth empowerment, the environment, social issues, and the maritime sector,” said Haris.
According to Haris, Indonesia’s development requires cross-sector collaboration. He emphasised that young people must be provided with the space to be involved and encouraged to become a force that helps resolve various national issues.
Consequently, this year’s KNPI anniversary serves as a reaffirmation of KNPI’s position to take a larger role in the national change agenda. Haris asserted that KNPI is ready to support and oversee the strategic programmes of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, particularly those related to the interests of the people and the younger generation.
“Youth should not merely be spectators. Youth must be actors and the spearhead of change,” he remarked.
Haris added that KNPI will continue to encourage the younger generation to move beyond criticism and aspirations, and instead contribute ideas and solutions to development. “KNPI is ready to be the spearhead of change. We support government programmes that favour the people and the youth, while simultaneously overseeing them to ensure their implementation truly delivers benefits,” he concluded.
