534 Dengue Cases in Pekanbaru Up to July, One Fatality Reported

The Pekanbaru City Government, through its Health Office, has issued a public warning following a significant number of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) cases. Based on the latest data, 534 cases were recorded in Pekanbaru from January to July 2026, with one fatality. The deceased was a resident of Tuah Madani District.

Data shows that Tuah Madani District recorded the highest number of cases with 86, closely followed by Marpoyan Damai District with 85 cases. Health Office Secretary Deddy Sambudi confirmed that epidemiological investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fatality.

In response to the outbreak, the Health Office has intensified fogging operations and mosquito larvae cleaning movements across residential areas. Deddy noted that there are currently no other patients undergoing intensive care for dengue, but he urged the public to remain vigilant. He emphasised the importance of consistently implementing Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS) as the primary preventive measure against the Aedes aegypti mosquito-borne disease.
