531 Thugs Arrested in Bandung Regency for Disturbing Public Order
A total of 531 thugs have been arrested by police in Bandung Regency, West Java, between June and July 2026 for disturbing public order and security. “We have managed to detain around 531 individuals linked to thuggery activities that occurred from June to July,” said Bandung Police Chief, Commissioner Aldi Subartono, on Sunday (9/8/2026).
He stated that the operation was carried out continuously across several areas in Bandung Regency, targeting various forms of thuggery that unsettled the public, including alleged coercion and security disturbances. One of the cases handled involved a man who allegedly forced people to hand over money at a petrol station in the Ciwideuy area. The suspect initially fled after committing the crime but was later apprehended by police in Karawang.
According to him, the suspect allegedly coerced members of the public who were refuelling their vehicles at the petrol station. “He was arrested in Karawang. We are currently investigating the extortion charges,” Aldi said. Aldi stressed that the police will continue to take firm action against thuggery to provide a sense of security to the community. He urged residents who witness or become victims of suspected crimes to report immediately to the police. “We appeal to the public, especially residents of Bandung Regency, if you see or know of any suspected criminal activity, please contact us immediately on 110,” he said.
