Bekasi, Kompas.com – The Eid al-Fitr 2026 return flow on the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) elevated toll road section is showing a significant increase, dominated by vehicles returning to Jakarta.

PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) recorded 53,189 vehicles passing towards Jakarta up to Wednesday (25/3/2026).

This figure represents a 140.78% increase compared to normal traffic of just 22,090 vehicles.

PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek’s President Director, Hendri Taufik, stated that an increase also occurred in the opposite direction, though not as substantial as the flow towards Jakarta.

“Meanwhile, the volume of vehicles leaving Jakarta was recorded at 29,502, a 35.41% increase from normal traffic of 21,787 vehicles,” Hendri said in his statement on Thursday (26/3/2026).

This situation indicates that the Eid return flow is still ongoing and is expected to continue increasing in the coming days.

To anticipate congestion, JJC advises road users to plan their journeys well, particularly by avoiding peak return flow times.

“We urge road users to plan their trips outside the predicted peak times,” Hendri said.

Hendri also reminded of the importance of safety during the return flow journey. Road users are asked to ensure the driver’s physical condition and the vehicle’s state are optimal.

Drivers are also advised to maintain sufficient battery power or fuel (BBM), and to be wary of potential weather changes such as rain that could affect visibility and road conditions.

“So that the journey can proceed safely and comfortably until reaching the destination,” Hendri said.

From Wednesday morning to afternoon, around 82,000 vehicles entered towards Jakarta. Meanwhile, up to Tuesday night (24/3/2026), the number of returning vehicles reached 1,958,838 units.

“Thus, the total is approximately 2,040,000 that have entered Jakarta,” said Listyo when met at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Center, Jatiasih, Bekasi City.

Listyo stated that the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow occurred on Tuesday night (24/3/2026) with 256,338 vehicles.

This number is higher than the previous year’s 223,163 vehicles.
