52 Children in Dompu Involved in Crime, 239 Become Victims of Violence Over Three Years
Data from the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency in Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara, has revealed a concerning situation for children in the region. Between 2023 and June 2026, a total of 52 children were involved in legal proceedings as perpetrators of crime, while 239 others were recorded as victims of violence.
The Head of the Dompu PPA UPTD, Utari Rahmawati, stated that the number of children in conflict with the law reached 22 in 2023. This figure decreased to 13 in 2024 but rose again to 17 in 2025. As of June 2026, five cases had already been recorded.
Regarding child victims of violence, the data shows 56 cases in 2023, which increased to 71 in 2024 and remained at 71 in 2025. By June 2026, 41 children had already been identified as victims.
Utari explained that the types of crimes committed by children included physical violence, sexual violence, and drug-related offences. Similarly, the violence experienced by child victims predominantly involved sexual abuse, physical abuse, exploitation, neglect, and drug-related situations, among other forms of violence.
