52,926 Returnees Head Back to Jabodetabek, Most via Pasar Senen Station

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta recorded 52,926 passengers returning from their Eid holidays through various stations in the Jabodetabek area on Tuesday (24/3/2026). The figure is based on data up to 09:00 WIB. “The number of passengers arriving today is higher than the departures, which totalled 41,755 passengers,” said the Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1, Franoto Wibowo, in a written statement. “We are seeing the reverse flow trend beginning, with arrivals outnumbering departures,” he added. The arrivals of long-distance train passengers for Daop 1 Jakarta were highest at Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta, with 18,458 passengers arriving on Tuesday. Then, 16,610 passengers arrived at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta. “Meanwhile, for departures, Pasar Senen Station also recorded the highest number at 17,257 passengers, followed by Gambir with 12,248 passengers on Tuesday,” he said. Based on Kompas.com’s observations at Pasar Senen Station from 09:30 WIB to 10:30 WIB, passengers were seen crowding the station. Not only those just returning from their hometowns, but dozens of prospective travellers were also visible, waiting for trains to Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya. Meanwhile, residents newly returned from their hometowns were observed arriving on trains from Yogyakarta, Solo, Purwokerto, and Cirebon.
