52,707 people cross from Sumatra to Java via Bakauheni Port
South Lampung (ANTARA) - Homecoming activities at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung, heading to Merak, Banten, experienced a surge in vehicle volume during the peak of the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow. General Manager of PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch, Partogi Tamba, in South Lampung on Wednesday, stated that based on data from the past 24 hours from the 2025 Lebaran Transport Post, his side recorded 52,707 people making the crossing to Merak Port in Banten. “The total realisation of passengers at Bakauheni Port, Wika Beton, and BBJ Muara Pilu, crossing from Sumatra to Java, reached 52,707 people, up 11.4 percent from the same period last year, which was 47,293 people,” he said. Meanwhile, he added, the number of two-wheeled vehicles that have crossed from H-4 to H-3 reached 754 units, up 19.5 percent from last year’s realisation of 631 units. Four-wheeled vehicles reached 6,197 units, down 10.6 percent from the same period last year, which was 5,601 units. “The total of all vehicles recorded is 9,565 units that have crossed from Sumatra to Java on H-4, up 13.3 percent from the realisation for the same period last year of 8,445 units,” he stated. Despite the surge, his side assured that there is no vehicle buildup in the parking area or at the port entrance. Therefore, the ASDP Bakauheni branch has prepared hundreds of combined personnel to handle vehicle buildups. For this reason, he urged the public planning to cross from Bakauheni Port to Merak in Banten to understand the extreme weather conditions currently affecting almost all regions of Indonesia. It is known that PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch predicts the peak of the homecoming flow at Bakauheni Port will occur on H-3 of Lebaran or 18 March 2025.
