52,029 People Leave Bali via Padangbai During Eid al-Fitr Homecoming Period
A total of 52,029 people left Bali through Padangbai Port in Karangasem during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period. This figure was recorded from H-10 until Eid day itself.
The Head of the Transport Service Unit (Satpel) of the Padangbai Port Land Transportation Management Agency (BPTD), I Ketut Sugiartono, explained that the high number of homecomers did not result in long queues inside the port. According to him, all passengers could still be accommodated within the port facilities.
“The highest number of passengers crossing occurred on H-4 before Eid, with 9,550 people in a single day,” said Sugiartono on Sunday (22/3/2026).
The Satpel BPTD Padangbai Port recorded the number of vehicles crossing to Lembar Port in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), consisting of 16,881 motorcycles and 1,447 cars. Sugiartono estimated that the number of vehicles entering Bali via Padangbai during the return flow would not differ much.
Sugiartono stated that the current return flow situation remains calm, with no signs of an increase in arriving passengers at Padangbai Port. He suspected that residents were still enjoying their holidays and gathering with family in their hometowns.
“We cannot yet confirm the peak of the return flow. Based on experience, people do not return on the same day,” said Sugiartono.
The Padangbai Port Area Police Chief, Kompol I Wayan Gede Wirya, revealed that security schemes have been prepared for the return flow. Passenger checks at Padangbai Port will also involve personnel from TNI, Polri, ASDP, and other related agencies.
“We will conduct strict checks at the three available posts, assisted by other related agencies at the port,” said Wirya, emphasising that inspections of passengers’ luggage and identities at Padangbai Port will be tightened.
