52,000 People Arrive in Jakarta by Train on Thursday
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded 52,471 train passengers arriving at various stations in the Daop 1 Jakarta region, higher than the departure volume of 33,520 passengers.
“The return flow in the Daop 1 Jakarta region remains quite high to date. Arrival volumes continue to dominate over departures,” said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo in Jakarta on Thursday.
Pasar Senen and Gambir Stations once again served as the main hubs for the return flow. On Thursday, the highest number of arriving passengers was recorded at Pasar Senen Station with 18,203 people, followed by Gambir Station with 15,815 people, and Bekasi Station with 8,477 people.
Meanwhile, for departures, Pasar Senen Station also recorded the highest figure with 15,061 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 7,828 passengers and Bekasi with 5,448 passengers.
During the Lebaran transportation period running from 11 March to 1 April 2026, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta provided 1,083,674 seats for long-distance train journeys.
Although the return flow continues, for the departure period from 26 March to 1 April 2026, 198,535 seats remain available.
In the period of 11-20 March 2026, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta departed 483,389 passengers. Then, during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period on 21-22 March 2026, the departure volume was recorded at 97,297 passengers, while arrivals reached 62,254 passengers.
Entering the return flow since 23 March 2026, daily arrival numbers have consistently ranged from 49,000 to 53,000 passengers per day.
Passengers arriving in the Daop 1 Jakarta region during the return flow generally come from several cities in Central Java, East Java, DI Yogyakarta, and West Java, such as Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Jember, Purwokerto, Bandung, Malang, Solo, Tegal, Madiun, and Kutoarjo.
Meanwhile, favourite destinations for customers during the Lebaran transportation period include Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Purwokerto, Bandung, and Jember.
The promotion applies to departures from 25 March to 1 April 2026 and is available on 61 train journeys from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station.
The discounted fares do not apply to suite class compartment services, luxury, priority, imperial, panoramic, and other tourist trains.
In addition to the Silaturahmi Promotion, KAI also supports the government’s economic stimulus programme with a 30 percent discount for commercial economy class trains during the period of 14-29 March 2026.
Specifically in the Daop 1 Jakarta region, around 329,000 seats have been prepared for the programme, with approximately 17,000 seats still available.
“Regarding seat availability, until 1 April 2026, there are still 123,081 seats for executive class, 64,756 seats for commercial economy, and 10,698 seats for PSO economy,” Franoto stated.
