500 Regional Government Civil Servants in South Sulawesi Also Undergo Basic Military Training for Reserve Component
JAKARTA - Five hundred civil servants (ASN) from the regional government (Pemda) in South Sulawesi are currently undergoing Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) to become part of the Reserve Component (Komcad).
The Head of the National Reserve Agency of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, stated that the Latsarmil attended by ASN from South Sulawesi’s Pemda is concurrent with similar training for ASN from the central government.
“And frankly, this has already been preceded by ASN in regional government ranks, both at the provincial and regency/city levels. Currently, 500 ASN from the regional government in South Sulawesi are conducting this basic military training,” said Gabriel at Base Ops Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Gabriel mentioned that several other regional governments will also send their ASN to participate in the Latsarmil.
“Later, it will be Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, then North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau Islands, even regional governments in the eastern regions,” he explained.
According to him, this participation stems from the civil servants’ awareness as part of their responsibility towards the state.
“Thus, we are grateful in this voluntary context that all are united in heart to affirm that the state is everything,” he clarified.
The Ministry of Defence records that 1,773 civil servants (ASN) from the first wave of various ministries and agencies have begun undergoing Komcad Latsarmil at several locations.
The selection process includes administrative selection, health checks, and data collection on physical, psychological, and ideological mental aspects.
The Latsarmil is being conducted at six locations, namely the State Intelligence Agency Communication Centre, the Main Regiment of the Jayakarta Military Region Command, the Army Health Education Centre, Infantry Brigade 1 Marine Troops 1, the Air Force Doctrine Development, Education and Training Command Language Centre, and Wing Education 500/General Atang Sendjaja.
The Komcad basic military training commenced on 22 April 2026, and participants who pass will be appointed as Komcad members on 5 June 2026.
