500 Passengers of Ciremai Train Evacuated After Being Trapped by Landslide

Around 500 passengers on the Ciremai train route from Semarang Tawang to Bandung were evacuated after the train became trapped by a landslide in the Maswati-Sasaksaat track section, at KM 142+8/9 in Kampung Cihanjuang RT 03/20, Desa Mandalasari, Kecamatan Cikalongwetan, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, on Wednesday (1/4). Cikalongwetan Police Chief AKP Deden Indrajaya stated that the hundreds of passengers are in safe condition. “Approximately 500 passengers. They are safe,” Deden said when contacted. Deden explained that currently, his team and PT KAI personnel are conducting the evacuation process for the passengers, the train locomotive, and the clearing of landslide materials. “The locomotive evacuation process is currently underway using heavy equipment crane,” he said. Regarding the passengers, all have been redirected to Rende Station and will continue their journey by bus to Bandung. “Passenger handling is redirected to Rende Station and the journey will continue by bus to Bandung,” he said.
