JAKARTA — The Paguyuban Demak Bintoro Nusantara (PDBN), together with PGSI (Indonesian Teachers Union) Demak and AMPD (Youth Movement of Paguyuban Demak) Jabodetabek, organised a Mudik Ceria (Happy Homecoming) programme for Demak residents based in Greater Jakarta with Bank BRI as the sole sponsor under its “One Bank For All” initiative.

The free homecoming programme ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH (2026 CE) was launched by Sohibin, representing the PDBN Advisory Board and acting on behalf of the PDBN Chairman, with prayers led by Kamdi (PDBN Deputy Chairman) at Kramatjati Central Market, East Jakarta, on Sunday 15 March 2026.

Representing PDBN Chairman Fathan Subchi, who also serves as a member of the State Audit Board and advisor to the Central Java PGSI, Sohibin stated that the free Mudik Ceria programme initiated by the PDBN Chairman with Bank BRI sponsorship would help ease travel for Demak residents in Greater Jakarta.

“We have arranged ten buses, comprising eight sponsored by Bank BRI and two provided by the PDBN Chairman, to transport approximately 500 homebound passengers departing from Kramatjati Central Market, East Jakarta. God willing, this will assist Demak residents working away from home,” said Fathan Subchi through Sohibin during the launch of the ten homecoming bus convoys.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Mudik Ceria coordinator M Ridhwan explained that the PDBN’s free mudik tradition is an annual scheduled programme demonstrating concern for Demak residents in Greater Jakarta who are returning to their hometowns.

“The 2026 Free Mudik Ceria represents PDBN’s tradition as a concrete manifestation of humanitarian concern, and this year’s journey with Bank BRI will, God willing, alleviate the burden on residents wishing to return home amidst escalating public transport fares, particularly as many hometowns are currently experiencing flooding,” said Ridhwan, who also serves as PDBN’s Deputy Secretary General.

The PDBN’s Mudik Ceria programme received overwhelming public support.

One such supporter was education activist and Chairman of the Demak District PGSI Council Noor Salim.

“The Mudik Ceria initiative led by Fathan Subchi, partnering with Bank BRI, is truly commendable, as it genuinely assists Demak residents working away from home, particularly as this enables earlier homecoming, allowing passengers sufficient time for family visits before celebrating Eid with their families,” said Salim during preparations to receive the mudik convoy at the PGSI Demak Red and White Building.

On behalf of the PGSI Demak District family, he continued, we express appreciation and gratitude for the humanitarian efforts of Mudik Ceria PDBN-PGSI-AMPD with Bank BRI.

“May next year Bank BRI’s sponsorship increase, so that Demak residents struggling to earn a living away from home and facing difficulties with homecoming costs can return and gather with their beloved families on Eid al-Fitr, Amen,” concluded Salim.

Similarly, Bu Nyai Siti Zulaikha expressed gratitude for the mudik ceria facilitation.

“Thank you Sir H Fathan, PDBN, thank you PGSI and AMPD, and thank you to Bank BRI who always serve with sincere hearts. On behalf of our fellow homebound travellers who received complimentary bus facilities which were extremely comfortable, supplemented with rice meals, snacks and mineral water, the mudik truly felt like a family holiday,” said Bu Nyai Zulaikha, also Chairman of JMQ Greater Jakarta, echoed by other homebound passengers.

“The PDBN’s Mudik Ceria sponsored by BRI is truly excellent, it genuinely feels like a holiday, thank you Sir Fathan for your humanitarian concern,” said fellow passenger Prabowo Hari Yanto.
