The Demak Bintoro Nusantara (PDBN) community organisation, together with the All-Indonesia Teachers Association (PGSI) Demak and the Youth Wing of Paguyuban Demak (AMPD) Jabodetabek, organised a Mudik Ceria (Happy Homecoming) programme for Demak residents living in the Greater Jakarta region, supported by BRI Bank “One Bank for All”.

The free homecoming programme ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri or 2026 Gregorian, was launched by H. Sohibin, PDBN Advisory Board Member, representing the PDBN Chairman, accompanied by prayers from H. Kamdi, PDBN Vice Chairman, at Kramatjati Market in East Jakarta on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Representing PDBN Chairman H. Fathan Subchi, who is also a Member of the Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and supervisor of PGSI Central Java, Sohibin stated that through the free Mudik Ceria programme initiated by the PDBN Chairman with BRI Bank’s support, assistance could be provided to Demak residents in the Greater Jakarta region.

“We have provided ten buses, comprising eight buses supported by BRI Bank and two buses from the PDBN Chairman, with 500 homebound travellers departing from Kramatjati Market in East Jakarta, God willing, to help Demak residents abroad,” said Fathan Subchi through H. Sohibin during the launch of the ten bus convoys.

Meanwhile, Mudik Ceria 2026 Committee Chairman M. Ridhwan stated that the PDBN’s free homecoming tradition is a regular annual agenda, demonstrating concern for Demak residents in the Greater Jakarta region who wish to return to their hometowns.

“Mudik Ceria Free 2026 is for PDBN a tradition representing genuine humanitarian concern, and this year’s homecoming with BRI Bank, God willing, will ease the burden on residents who wish to return home, given the high cost of public transport fares, especially as some hometowns are currently experiencing flooding,” said Ridhwan, who is also PDBN Deputy Secretary General.

The Mudik Ceria programme also received positive reception from the public. These included education activists and PGSI Regional Head for Demak District, Noor Salim.

“The Mudik Ceria initiated by Mas Fathan Subchi, partnering with BRI Bank, truly helps Demak residents abroad, especially since homecoming can happen earlier, giving travellers adequate time for family visits and celebrating Eid together,” said Salim during preparations to welcome the homecoming convoy at the Red and White Building of PGSI Demak.

On behalf of the PGSI Demak family, he expressed appreciation and gratitude for the humanitarian effort of Mudik Ceria PDBN-PGSI-AMPD with BRI Bank. “May next year BRI Bank’s support increase further, so that Demak residents who are struggling to earn income abroad and facing homecoming costs can return to gather with their families during Eid al-Fitr,” said Salim.

Similarly, Nyai Siti Zulaikha, AH, expressed gratitude for the Mudik Ceria facilitation.

“We thank Mr H. Fathan, PDBN, PGSI and AMPD, as well as BRI Bank which always serves wholeheartedly. Representing fellow homebound travellers who received free bus facilities that are very comfortable, plus meals, makes the homecoming feel like a family outing,” said Nyai Zulaikha, who is also Chair of JMQ Jabodetabek.

“We are grateful for Mudik Ceria PDBN’s humanitarian concern,” said another participant, Prabowo Hariyanto.

The initiative comes at a time when residents of Demak are facing significant flooding challenges, including a collapsed dam on the Cabean B1 River in Guntur District affecting hundreds of homes, and coastal erosion (rob) that has become routine for residents in Bedono Village, Sayung District. To address these challenges, the Central Java Provincial Government has begun operating solar-powered water pumps with a total capacity of 2 x 125 litres per second as part of its flood and coastal erosion control system.
