500-Gram Gold Robbery Was Fabricated to Cover Up Brutal Assault
Police have uncovered the facts behind the assault on a man with the initials MHA on Jalan Pati, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The alleged robbery of 500 grams of gold was merely a fabrication by the perpetrator to cover up an attempted murder.
Initially, a woman identified as T, who had posed as a witness, reported that the victim had been robbed. T even claimed to have lost 500 grams of gold.
Based on the police investigation, it was discovered that T was the perpetrator of the assault against MHA. No items were stolen, including the 500 grams of gold.
“There were no items stolen,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra on Friday (19/6/2026).
Roby explained T’s reason for making the false robbery report. The perpetrator did it to deceive the police about the assault she had committed.
“So, the person said to have stolen, along with the stolen goods and the theft incident itself, we suspect to be false. It was merely an alibi to obscure the actual event,” he stated.
Police detailed the chronology of the attempted murder case on Jalan Pati, Menteng, Central Jakarta, which left MHA, a director of an IT company, injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, in the afternoon. Initially, the victim and the perpetrator were on the ground floor of the location.
“The victim was playing a game using virtual reality. Then, because the perpetrator’s hand was injured, she was applying a compress to her hand,” said AKBP Roby Heri Saputra.
The perpetrator then prepared a portable power supply and connected it with a cable. Police stated the victim was electrocuted and fell.
“The perpetrator then rolled up a cloth and asked the victim to hold it. Because the victim held the cloth, he was electrocuted and fell for approximately six to eight seconds,” he explained.
The victim lost consciousness after the incident. The panicked perpetrator then took a wok from the kitchen and struck the victim on the head and back.
“However, the victim still did not lose consciousness and fled upstairs while screaming,” he said.
The perpetrator retrieved the stun device. The victim tried to escape and ran upstairs. But the perpetrator chased him and ordered him to lie on a mattress while carrying the stun device and a hammer.
“The victim complied. The perpetrator then took a nitrogen canister and ordered the victim to inhale from it for about 10 minutes,” he continued.
“However, doubting the effectiveness of that method, the perpetrator then dropped or struck the nitrogen canister against the victim’s head twice, causing serious injuries and bleeding to the head,” he added.
The perpetrator then went downstairs and took a kitchen knife, subsequently stabbing the victim in the head, back, and neck. The victim sustained multiple injuries as a result of the incident.
