50 Participants from Underprivileged Families Receive Job-Ready Training in Brebes
A total of 50 participants from underprivileged families participated in the ‘Job-Ready Training’ programme, specifically focusing on the Shoe Sewing Operator scheme and industrial job placement assistance, held from 8–14 June 2026 at the Islamic Centre in Brebes, Central Java. The group comprised 45 participants from Brebes Regency, one from Purbalingga Regency, and four from Karawang Regency.
This initiative, a collaboration between Ruang Amal Indonesia and Baitul Maal Pupuk Kujang (BMPK), is an economic empowerment project designed to help poor and vulnerable communities gain access to formal employment through skills training tailored to industrial needs. The programme adopts an approach that focuses not only on training but also on mentoring and job placement, representing a concrete effort to support the eradication of extreme poverty.
Furthermore, the programme is expected to serve as a tangible contribution from the Zakat Management Institution (LAZ) in addressing challenging economic conditions, particularly regarding the high rates of layoffs in various regions. In his opening remarks, Slamet, CEO of Ruang Amal Indonesia, explained that vocational training must be able to meet the needs of the workforce while providing a way out for those who have struggled to access decent employment.
“Poverty cannot be overcome with temporary aid alone,” he stated in Brebes on Monday (8/6/2026). He noted that interventions are required to increase capacity and open access to sustainable livelihoods.
