50 nabbed in student brawls
JAKARTA (JP): Police netted 50 students involved in a brawl which smashed a bank's windows on Jl. MH. Thamrin, in Central Jakarta yesterday
Menteng Police Chief Capt. Chaerul said about 70 students from a senior high school on Jl. Budi Utomo, in Central Jakarta threw stones at students from a South Jakarta senior high school smashing the Bank Surya building's windows.
"We seized two knives, dozens of steel belts, and logs," Chaerul said.
He said police would release the students after they had been identified.
At least 15 students have been killed in brawls in the city this year. Most of the killers have not been caught. (jun)
