50 Buses Destroyed in Fire at Cikarang Depot, Cause Under Investigation

A fire was reported at the PO Sinar Jaya depot on Jalan Jarakosta, Sukadanau Village, West Cikarang, West Java. The Bekasi Regency Fire and Rescue Department deployed nine units from several sectors to extinguish the blaze that burned 50 buses at the site.

The fire originated from the bus depot. Fifty buses that were no longer in operation were reported to have been burned in the incident, said Head of the Bekasi Regency Fire and Rescue Department Adeng Hudaya in Cikarang.

The fire incident report was received by officers on Tuesday at 01.45 WIB and was immediately followed up by dispatching firefighting teams to the area. Officers arrived at the location at 02.00 WIB and quickly worked to extinguish the fire.

The fire affected an area of the bus depot covering 800 square metres. The large number of vehicles at the location caused the fire to spread rapidly and threatened other buses parked in the area.

The fire was eventually extinguished, although dozens of buses at the scene could not be saved. Teams from Mako Cibitung, South Cikarang Sector, North Cikarang Sector, Pemda Sector, and Sukatani Sector participated in the firefighting effort.

After the fire was extinguished, officers continued with a cooling process to ensure the fire would not reignite. No official report has yet been issued regarding the material losses suffered as a result of the incident.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Police officers are conducting further examinations to determine the initial source of the fire.
