5 Villages in Central Aceh Isolated Again Due to Collapse of Temporary Bridge
Two temporary bridges constructed following floods and landslides in Aceh have been severed, resulting in five villages becoming isolated again. The bridges collapsed after heavy rain lashed parts of Aceh.
“Heavy rain since the afternoon caused flooding, leading to the collapse of the temporary bridges built a while ago during the hydrometeorological disaster,” said the Head of the Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBA), Bahron Bakti, as reported by detikSumut on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
The two bridges are located in Bur Lah Village, Ketol Subdistrict, and the Kampung Terang Engon bridge, Silih Nara Subdistrict. There were no fatalities in the incident.
Bahron revealed that the event has caused four hamlets in Ketol Subdistrict and one village in Silih Nara Subdistrict to become isolated again. Local authorities have deployed two pieces of heavy equipment to the site to reopen access for residents.
“Heavy rain is still occurring at the moment, and the water flow remains very strong,” Bahron explained last night.
Meanwhile, in Bener Meriah, heavy rain has caused the Wih Porak River in Pintu Rime Gayo Subdistrict to overflow. As a result, the Bireuen-Bener Meriah road access has been completely cut off.
