5 Things Revealed During Saepul's Reconstruction of Depok Mutilation Case

A number of details were revealed during the reconstruction of the mutilation case of a man with the initial K (51), who was found dead in a rented house in Cipayung, Depok. The suspect, Saepul, participated in the reenactment held at the crime scene, a two-storey rented house, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Saepul appeared wearing an orange prison uniform and reenacted 51 scenes. He was arrested on 5 August 2026 in Pandeglang, Banten, and is charged with premeditated murder under Articles 458 and 459 of the Criminal Code, facing a possible death sentence.

During the reconstruction, Saepul was seen carrying medication. Police revealed that based on their examination, he is suffering from HIV. The medication was brought along during the reenactment.

Commissioner Dimitri Mahendra, Head of Sub-unit 1 of the Mobile Investigation Unit at Polda Metro Jaya, stated that the reconstruction was conducted to match the facts of the incident with the statements of the suspect and witnesses. He confirmed that Saepul acted alone in the murder and mutilation. A friend of the suspect, identified as J, was initially questioned but was not involved in the crime. J reportedly visited the rented house after the murder, noticed a mop and the smell of blood, became frightened, and immediately left.

The victim’s dismembered body was placed in a sack and dumped on vacant land in Depok on 24 July 2026. Residents mistook the sack for rubbish until they attempted to burn it on 4 August 2026, leading to the discovery of the remains.
