Residential areas in Periuk District, Tangerang City have been inundated with floodwater reaching heights of 5 metres. The Metro Jakarta Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) has been deployed to the location to assist with evacuation efforts.

Dansat Brimob Metro Jakarta Police Brigadier General Henik Maryanto stated that RW 11 in Periuk Village, Periuk District has experienced the most severe flooding impact.

“Personnel have been deployed to the location to assist with evacuating residents whilst simultaneously providing logistical assistance in the form of food and beverages to flood-affected residents,” said Brigadier General Henik in a statement on Monday (9 March 2026).

Brigadier General Henik stated that the deployment of personnel to the location demonstrates the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to serving communities in need. The presence of Brimob personnel in the field also aims to ensure that post-flood response operations proceed safely whilst providing support to residents still dealing with the impacts of flooding in residential areas.

Beyond the Periuk area, Brimob Metro Jakarta Police, through the Search and Rescue Team of Pioneer Battalion C, has also conducted humanitarian operations in two residential areas affected by flooding: Duren Villa Ciledug and Ciledug Indah housing estates.

Brigadier General Henik emphasised that Brimob personnel will continue to provide support to communities during emergency and disaster situations. The involvement of personnel in the field is part of the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to providing rapid services to the public, particularly in assisting evacuation operations, securing areas, and ensuring that conditions remain safe and conducive following the flood.

By midday, evacuation and distribution of assistance in the Periuk area continued to proceed under controlled conditions. Brimob personnel maintained monitoring to ensure resident safety and to anticipate potential secondary impacts from the flooding that had previously affected the area.

Meanwhile, Head of Communications at Metro Jakarta Police Brigadier General Budi Hermanto stated that Brimob personnel were deployed to the most severely affected locations to conduct resident evacuation operations, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and residents who were ill. Field teams were equipped with inflatable boats, search and rescue equipment, and emergency logistical support.

“Our primary priority is the preservation of life. Brimob officers, together with personnel from Metro Tangerang City Police and relevant agencies (BPBD/TNI), remain on standby at the location to ensure evacuation operations proceed smoothly and safely. We have also established health posts and communal kitchens at evacuation points,” said Budi Hermanto.
