The session to determine Eid al-Adha will be held this afternoon, Sunday (17/5/2026). The public can watch the process of determining the beginning of Dzulhijjah through a live broadcast provided by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Quoting the official website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, monitoring of the new moon for the beginning of Dzulhijjah 1447 H will be carried out at 88 points spread across various regions of Indonesia. This monitoring is an important part of the series of sessions to determine the beginning of the month of Dzulhijjah as well as the determination of Eid al-Adha 2026.

Results of the Calculation for 1 Dzulhijjah 1447 H
Based on calculations, all systems agree that the conjunction before Dzulhijjah 1447 H will occur on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at around 03.00 WIB. At the time of observation, the position of the new moon throughout Indonesia is estimated to be above the horizon with an altitude ranging from 3º 37’ 51” to 6º 54’ 23”.
The elongation angle or angular distance between the Moon and the Sun ranges from 8º 58’ 23” to 10º 36’ 52”. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will wait for the results of new moon monitoring to officially determine 1 Dzulhijjah 1447 H.
