The Denpasar Class IA District Court imposed sanctions on five individuals proven to have dumped rubbish and waste indiscriminately in the Denpasar City area during a minor criminal offence (Tipiring) hearing on Thursday (7/5/2026). Four violators, initialled TSK, RSD, WHS, and ABM, were each fined Rp 100,000 or one day’s substitute imprisonment. They were found guilty of violating Article 21 paragraph (2) letter l of Denpasar City Regional Regulation No. 10 of 2025 on Public Order, Tranquillity, and Community Protection for dumping rubbish on the roadside. The fifth violator, initialled WH, was imposed a larger fine of Rp 300,000 or three days’ substitute imprisonment. He was proven to have dumped waste indiscriminately, charged under Article 20 paragraph (2) letter b of the same regulation. Meanwhile, the Head of the Denpasar City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), AA Ngurah Bawa Nendra, stated that the violators were acted upon based on reports from the public. He mentioned that with this hearing, a total of 25 people in Denpasar have now undergone Tipiring due to dumping rubbish in the wrong place. “We are not looking for faults in the residents, but we are enforcing the Regional Regulation,” said Bawa Nendra. He also urged residents not to burn rubbish and to support the city’s waste management programme. The Satpol PP, he said, will continue to prioritise preventive measures, but will bring violators to trial if warnings are ignored.
