BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — A two-year-old child identified as MAJ was found dead in a rental house in the Omah Seruni 99 area, RT 02/RW 10, Jatirangga Village, Jatisampurna Subdistrict, Bekasi City, West Java, on Wednesday evening (27 May 2026). The toddler was found with multiple stab and slash wounds in the living room of the rental property alongside his uncle, SG (18), who also sustained injuries to various parts of his body.

The victim’s grandmother, M (60), discovered the incident upon returning from selling cakes around 22:00 WIB. “The grandmother only discovered the situation upon returning at 10pm. The child was already lying on the living room floor of the rental house,” said RT 02 Jatirangga head Taufik Hidayat during a site visit on Thursday (28 May 2026).

The grandmother worked late to support the family, while MAJ’s mother resides in Yogyakarta. “The grandmother left in the afternoon and returned around 9 or 10pm,” Taufik added.

Taufik said residents gathered after hearing cries and shouts from inside the rental house following the discovery of the victims. “We heard shouting and crying from the victim’s aunt. We rushed over and saw the scene. The toddler appeared to have been stabbed,” he said.

“It’s suspected to be murder. There was a knife at the scene, but both were already lying down,” Taufik stated.

Another local resident, Rudianto (43), suspected SG was involved as only the victim and SG were inside the house with the door locked from within. “The suspect is likely the uncle. They were alone when the grandmother was selling cakes. The door was locked from inside,” Rudianto said.

“The suspect rarely socialises. When addressed, he sometimes responds, sometimes not. He isolates himself due to special needs,” Rudianto added.
